Adaptive Optics Photometry and Astrometry of Binary Stars. Ii. a Multiplicity Survey of B Stars
نویسندگان
چکیده
We carried out a search for companions to B stars using the adaptive optics system of the Advanced ElectroOptical System 3.6 m telescope. We observed 70 B stars in the I band, finding 16 companions, 10 of which are newly discovered companions. For each system with a detected companion we give its measured astrometry and differential magnitude. We then put the observation in context of the system’s known multiplicity and provide a somewhat crude estimate of its spectral type based on the single differential magnitude measurement. The separations range from 0.200 to 7.3100, and the differential magnitudes range from 1:41 0:01 to 10:1 0:5. Finally, we present a list of the null detections and discuss the implications of null detections of selected stars.

Keck Adaptive Optics Imaging of Nearby Young Stars: Detection of Close Multiple Systems
Using adaptive optics on the Keck II 10-meter telescope on Mauna Kea, we have surveyed 24 of the nearest young stars known in search of close companions. Our sample includes members of the MBM12 and TWHydrae young associations and the classical TTauri binary UYAurigae in the Taurus star-forming region. We present relative photometry and accurate astrometry for 10 close multiple systems. The mul...
متن کاملAdaptive Optics Photometry and Astrometry of Binary Stars. III. A Faint Companion Search of O-Star Systems
Binary star systems are frequently the only source for the fundamental determination of the most basic property of a star, its mass. The masses of a sample of stars, when determined with sufficient accuracy, serve as crucial tests of our theoretical understanding of stellar formation, structure, and evolution. By combining information from the angular orbit projected on the sky (or from a light...

The sample of 115 B-type stars in Sco OB2 association is examined for existence of visual companions with ADONIS near-infrared adaptive optics system and coronograph in J and Ks bands. Practically all components in the separation range 0. ′′3–6. ′′4 (45 − 900 A.U.) were detected, with magnitudes down to K = 16. The K and J−K photometry of primaries and differential photometry and astrometry of ...
متن کاملRobo-ao Kepler Planetary Candidate Survey. Ii. Adaptive Optics Imaging of 969 Kepler Exoplanet Candidate Host Stars
We initiated the Robo-AO Kepler Planetary Candidate Survey in 2012 to observe each Kepler exoplanet candidate host star with high-angular-resolution visible-light laser-adaptive-optics imaging. Our goal is to find nearby stars lying in Kepler ’s photometric apertures that are responsible for the relatively high probability of false-positive exoplanet detections and that cause underestimates of ...
متن کاملPulsating red giant and supergiant stars in the Local Group dwarf galaxy Andromeda I
We have conducted an optical long-term monitoring survey of the majority of dwarf galaxies in the Local Group, with the Isaac Newton Telescope (INT), to identify the long period variable (LPV) stars. LPV stars vary on timescales of months to years, and reach the largest amplitudes of their brightness variations at optical wavelengths, due to the changing temperature. They trace stellar populati...
